While Canterbury may be a far cry from the hustle and bustle of central London, the town does know how to cater to its younger population, and especially university students. From good to great, here is a rundown of some of the nightlife Canterbury has to offer.
Since my time here in England is coming to an end, I feel a great deal of pressure to take advantage of my last six weeks. I’ve booked flights and train tickets to several other countries in order to make the most of my study abroad experience, but one thing I really enjoy doing is just staying at my university and spending time with the friends I’ve made here.
With two months already gone by in England, it feels like I’ve finally established a routine to my weekdays. Here’s what I get up to on a normal school day at Kent.
It was raining when I arrived in England last Saturday. Having anticipated the U.K. to be a bit wetter than San Diego, I had gone out weeks before to buy rain gear — gear that was now buried at the bottom of my biggest suitcase. Looking around, the other exchange students also seemed caught off guard, eyeing the dark clouds outside the windows with apprehension.
I love everything about England, so studying abroad here is a dream come true. I’ve imagined what living in England would be like and it’s everything I’ve pictured and more; from the people, the cloudy weather, the history and even the accents.
If you haven’t heard, less than a month ago a referendum across the United Kingdom passed meaning that the UK would leave the European Union. This coined the term ‘Brexit.’ This all happened a few days before I left America to come to England. So, as you can imagine, it is a very interesting political time to be living in the UK.
